February 4, 2009 My experience with Dr. Kanayama’s office was very positive. I had previously seen another specialist, who implied, in no uncertain terms, that I had perpetuated my problems because of my lifestyle. While Dr. Kanayama emphasized that a lifestyle changes could help me with endometriosis, he was kind and compassionate and did not blame me for having this disease. The consultations leading up to surgery were thorough, professional and reassuring. Dr. Kanayama was very open to questions, listening to my concerns and experience with open ears, without judgement. The office itself was helpful and supportive, and despite my occasional forgetfulness of an appointment or late arrival, I always felt welcome and happy to be returning for a consultation. I was quite nervous for surgery. While it was a physically challenging process, emotionally I felt well taken care of. All the staff who worked with me, and there was a lot of staff , were kind, open to questions and patient. The staff at Greenwich Hospital was top notch – open to questions, friendly, positive, helpful and professional. It was, by far, the most positive health care experience I have had. I am surprised by how much of a difference surgery has already made in my life. I feel much more stable, my acne has cleared up, my libido is back and I feel more in control of my health. My pain, including cramping and migraines, has significantly reduced. I realized after my surgery how many painkillers I was taking to get through the month. Today, I hardly take any. Although it has only been a few months since my surgery, I have great hopes that this will continue into the future. I recommend Dr. Kanayama’s office highly. It is a comforting, welcoming place for women who have suffered for years without understand what is wrong. Leah S. |
