I am nineteen years old and I suffered from endometriosis for about five years until I met Dr. Kanayama. I was unable to participate in any type of sport or activity because the pain that was in my right lower quadrant. Sometimes the pain was so unbearable that it enabled me to walk or move and I was even on pain relievers. My parents brought me to the emergency room near our house and they either said that I was stressed out or they gave me Tylenol with codeine (which basically made me sleep through the pain). I also went to about five specialists in New Jersey and two in Pennsylvania before meeting Dr. Kanayama. Only one of those doctors thought that I had endometriosis. That doctor then performed laser surgery but my endometriosis recurred six months after because he only could retrieve fifty percent of the scar tissue.

I was so aggravated at all of the doctors around my house that I started going online trying to find the top endometriosis specialists. Most of the doctors that I came across were either far away or they were not knowledgeable on the topic of endometriosis. I started talking to local doctors and people in my town and that is when I found this lady who is also suffering from endometriosis. We started talking about our experiences and then she told me that she goes to this doctor in New York who is a true endometriosis specialist. So I decided go call the doctor's office and make an appointment to see of he could help me. A few weeks later, I went into New York to meet Dr. Kanayama. His office was welcoming, especially his staff.

Dr. Kanayama performed an ultrasound in his office and found out that I had advanced stage endometriosis. He suggested that we operate as soon as possible and explained all of the details of the operation. His technique was different from all the other doctors that I went to because he was actually going to cut out all of the endometriosis. I thought that this was excellent so I set up a date for surgery. Dr. Kanayama works in New York City but performs surgery in Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut.

Greenwich Hospital was so beautiful and clean that it looked like a reception hall. Everyone working in the hospital was friendly and welcoming. Before going in for surgery the anesthesiologist came to my room where I was waiting and introduced himself, which was comforting. At all times during my stay in hospital a nurse was by my side. Another positive aspect about Greenwich Hospital was that each patient had their own room.

The next day after surgery my nurse called to make sure that everything was alright. I never had a nurse call me the next day after leaving a hospital. I was so surprised but glad that someone took the time to actually see how I was feeling. After surgery, the first week was the worst, then it gradually became better and I started to feel like myself again. It was a miracle, the endometriosis pain was gone. It is now four months after surgery and I can hang out with my friends and participate in activities without becoming sick. I want to thank Dr. Kanayama and all his staff for their hard work and dedication in making each day pain free.
