I have had endometriosis for almost 20 years, and in that time, have endured botched surgeries, misdiagnosis, arrogant doctors, horrible drug trials and most of all, endless pain., therefore, I do not give out accolades lightly.
BUT, Dr Kanayama is the rare and surprising result of excellent bedside manner meeting medical brilliance!  I cannot thank him enough for my past and ongoing care!

I was put at ease almost instantly the first time I ever called the office. I was given undivided attention and an appointment right away. I think the moment you walk in, the almost zen like atmosphere takes over and you know you’ve made the right decision.

I was told for years that the answer to my problem would be to have a hysterectomy.  I am so glad I did the research and found Dr Kanayama, as he explained in detail why this was not the answer.  He used diagrams, case studies, photos, even his own drawings on his medical pad!  The clarity was amazing and I think for the first time in this whole ordeal, I understood what was going on with my body, but more importantly, so did my doctor, and he was going to do everything in his power to try and fix it.

You can ask anything and get replies in laymen’s terms, so that you understand.  Even after the initial visit through post –op, you are given priority.  If you call or need an appointment, Dr. Kanayama will call you back himself or have his office get you in immediately. I know there are many other patients at this practice, but somehow I always feel like I am the only one.

I think most doctors are quick to give out drugs, but this office advocates better nutritional practices and vitamins and supplements to help ward off the return of the disease.  I admire that they are in it for the long haul, not the quick fix.

I would also like to add a note, that if you should decide to do surgery with Dr K, you will be pleasantly surprised at the hospital care you will receive in Greenwich – it was like being at a 5 star hotel!!

I would also like to thank the staff at the office.  Sabrina is an absolutely lovely individual who made this journey just a bit easier, either with her kind words, or her time in helping me figure out all of the confusing insurance banter, and making sure I was armed to deal with them.

I am so utterly thankful and amazed at the same time.  My endometriosis is clear – done with a minimally invasive procedure.  I ask myself why everyone who practices gynecology, especially those specializing in endometriosis are not studying with Dr .Kanayama, and I hope you take the time to meet him before you decide on your care.

Thank you,
Cristine Shea
